A special high-profile event has been organised to celebrate the launch of the Cornwall Mining and Geo-Resources Alliance (CMGA), a spinout from the University of Exeter Geo-Resources Cluster project.
This ground-breaking initiative set to strengthen Cornwall’s position as a global leader in mining, geothermal energy, and the wider supply chain.
Industry experts and enthusiasts are invited to attend this milestone event at the Eden Project in Cornwall on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the afternoon.
The CMGA represents a unique Geo-Resources Cluster designed to support and drive growth in the mining and geo-resources sector – an industry with a significant economic impact on Cornwall.

- Panel Discussion: Shaping the Future of CMGA – A dynamic conversation featuring businesses from across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, discussing the future of the sector.
It will also feature a keynote speech from MP Perran Moon, discussing support for CMGA, alongside representatives from Cornwall Council. Presentations will also be delivered by Cornish Metals, Imerys, Caradon Stone, GEL, Cornish Lithium, and others.
This event is part of the Geo-Resources Strategic Sector Strengthening project. The University of Exeter has been commissioned to deliver the project with delivery partner Cornish Chamber of Mines and Minerals and strategic partner Cornwall Mining Alliance.
This project has received £960k from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
