The University of Exeter Business School’s One Planet MBA has achieved the rare feat of an AAA classification in the 2026 Green MBA Index.

It is one of only three MBA programmes in the world to receive the AAA rating, which is awarded to programmes demonstrating exceptional and consistent sustainability integration across curriculum, research, institutional governance and graduate outcomes.

The Green MBA Index is an independent evaluation of MBA programmes released annually by CEO Magazine.

It is designed to draw a meaningful distinction between programmes that have made sustainability central to how they educate leaders, and those for which it remains peripheral.

Programmes are evaluated across five dimensions, each weighted to reflect its relative contribution to a genuinely sustainability-facing education, with curriculum integration making up 25 per cent of the final rating, experiential learning 20 per cent, research and thought leadership 15 per cent, institutional environment 20 per cent and graduate pathways contributing 20 per cent.

Professor Donald Lancaster, Director of the One Planet MBA, said: “Being one of only three MBA programmes globally to be ranked AAA reflects the seriousness with which we have embedded sustainability and responsible leadership into every discipline, module and assessment.

“Business has a crucial role to play in the transition towards more sustainable, low carbon economies, and this classification shows that the One Planet MBA is developing the leaders who are best equipped to drive that shift.”
