Students from the University of Exeter will be appearing on the current season of the BBC’s long-running quiz programme, University Challenge.

The University’s first-round match, in this, the 31st season of the show, will be broadcast on Monday 23 September, at 8.30pm on BBC2.

The team, comprised of undergraduate and postgraduates from the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, and the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy, was put together by the Students’ Guild earlier this year following an extensive recruitment process.

They were then required by the programme-makers to audition for the show, and were chosen to be one of the 28 universities and colleges featured in the televised rounds.

The team is captained by Martin Newman, a PhD candidate in History. Lucy Carr, BA (Hons) Art History & Visual Culture and Classical Studies; Ryker Moorcroft, MSci Natural Sciences; and Elliott Mouelhi, BA (Hons) Ancient History and Archaeology, completed the line-up, with Benjamin Roth, MA Classics and Ancient History, as the reserve.

Find out how the team gets on on the 23rd.
