Chendi Zhang

Professor Chendi Zhang has been appointed chair of the board of the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment (GRASFI).

GRASFI – founded in 2017 to promote rigorous and highly impactful academic research on Sustainable Finance and Investment – is an alliance of 14 world-leading universities including Exeter.

Professor Zhang said: “I am honoured to be appointed to the role. The subject of Sustainable Finance and Investment is of growing importance among academics, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society.

“At a time when the issue of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) has been polarised and, frankly, seen as in retreat in some areas, it is vital to commit to high-quality, rigorous research to inform evidence-based decision-making in business and policy, and to provide financially sustainable solutions to the environmental and social challenges we are facing. This needs a global effort, and this is what GRASFI aims to do.”

On the 18-19 June 2026, the 3rd Exeter Sustainable Finance Conference will be held at the Exeter Sustainable Finance Centre, University of Exeter Business School.
