Five projects from the University of Exeter are finalists in the running for coveted Green Gown awards, which recognise sustainability within Higher and Further Education.

The UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards recognise, celebrate and showcase exceptional sustainability initiatives from universities, colleges and other post-16 institutions across the UK and Ireland.

Established in 2004, the awards have become one of the most prestigious recognitions of leading sustainability practice within the further and higher education sector. 

This year, the five projects to be shortlisted are:

Professor Lisa Roberts, President and Vice Chancellor at the University of Exeter, said: “I’m delighted to see these projects shortlisted for these awards, which recognise the best of sustainable innovation in our sector. The breadth of finalists reflects our commitment to delivering  a greener, healthier, fairer future for all. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in these fantastic projects.”

The awards are delivered by EAUC in partnership with UKRI. They are governed by a steering group made up of organisations across post-16 education. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Leeds on November 16.

These nominations celebrate the amazing work happening across our community to tackle climate change, waste reduction, nature recovery and health and wellness.”
