Exeter is the top university in terms of number of students reached in this year’s SDG Teach In.

The programme calls upon educators to include the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their teaching, learning and assessment.

Exeter is ranked fourth in 2024 (first among universities) for the number of students reached, and sixth (third among universities) for the number of educators pledged.

The SDG Teach In, an annual campaign that takes place throughout March, is run by Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK).

Jo Chamberlain, Director of Sustainability at the University of Exeter, said: “We’re delighted by our success in the SDG Teach In.

“Thank you to all our staff who are passionate about and committed to embedding the SDGs within their teaching.”

Exeter was also ranked first among universities for the number of students reached in 2023.

Professor Lisa Roberts, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, said: “One of the key goals of our Strategy 2030 is to lead meaningful action against the climate emergency and ecological crisis.

“This is particularly important in our educational programmes, where we aim to develop the skills in our students so they are empowered to go out and change the world for the better.

“Exeter’s continued success in the SDG Teach In is just one example of how sustainability is built into everything we do.”
